2007 GAME SUMMARIES

 

Jesuit Survives Suicide Saturday, Beats Vacville 5-3

        The Jesuit Marauders beat the Vacaville Bulldogs 5-3 on Saturday to advance to the double-elimination  tourney starting Monday.  Senior, Thain Simon, gutted out a complete game victory to pace the Marauders.  Simon struck out 9, and surrendered just 1 earned run in beating the Bulldogs.  Jesuit scored first with a Bosco double and a Greg Jorrin single to left to put the Marauders up 1-0 after 2.  Jesuit got 3 more in the 3rd on back-to-back double by Justin Parker and Trevor Paine, 2 Vacaville errors and an Andrew Susac sacrifice fly to left.  Vacaville surged back with 2 runs in the 5th and a homer in the 6th to close to 4-3.  However, the Marauders got an insurance run in the top of the 7th to secure the victory.  Jesuit faces league foe, Pleasant Grove, on Monday evening at 4 PM.

CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Play-offs

         Jesuit High School is the # 2 seed out of the Delta River League, and will square-off against Monticello Empire League #2 , Vacaville Bulldogs, on Saturday, May 19th at American River College.  First pitch is scheduled for 1:15 PM.  Click on the link for complete CIF North bracket.

Jesuit to Honor the Class of 2007

      Jesuit High School will honor the 11 baseball players and managers for their years of dedication and committment to the Jesuit Baseball program.  Players will be honored prior to the final home game at Loyola Field on Friday, May 14th vs. Pleasant Grove.  Players will be joined by their family members on the field for public recognition and a final tribute.  Families should report to the home dugout at 3:50 PM.

     

     

Game versus Woodcreek Cancelled

    The game scheduled for Saturday, April 14th versus Woodcreek High School has been cancelled.  This game was scheduled in case both Woodcreek and/or Jesuit didn't make the finals of their respective Easter tourneys.  Since Jesuit advanced to the finals of the 39th Annual Fresno Easter Classic, they wre unable to play due to Sac-Joaquin Section contact limits of 27 contests per year.  The Marauders will continue league play against the Sheldon Huskies on Monday, April 16th at Jesuit.

Fresno Easter Classic

   

     The Jesuit Marauders will travel to Fresno, California, April 2-5 to participate in the annual Fresno Easter Classic.  30 teams from California and surrounding states will compete for the title starting on Monday, April 2.  Jesuit will open against Santa Cruz at 4PM on Monday at Buchanon High School.  They will then play the host Buchanan Bears at 7PM in the night-cap.  Jesuit will travel to Clovis High School on Tuesday to take on Clovis at 7PM.  Their final pool came will be played at John Euless Park on Wednesday, April 4th against Sunnyside High School of Fresno at 10 AM.  The Championship Game is scheduled for 7:30 PM on Wednesday at Clovis West High School.  Player and coaches rooms have been reserved at Piccadilly Inn-Airport.  Parents may book rooms at the Piccadilly Inn-Airport for $85 per night plus tax, before March 18th.  Information is located at the Hotel Information link at the left-side of the page.

A's Tickets Available

Monday, March 5th

      On Wednesday, April 11th, the Jesuit Marauders will travel to Oakland to watch the A's take on the Chicago White Sox.  Start time is 12:35 PM.  Tickets are available on a limited basis for $2 per person.  All players tickets have been donated, but if parents, friends, siblings, etc. want to join in the fun, please contact Chris Fahey at faheyc@jhssac.org to reserve tickets.  The game is also a $1 hot dog and soda promotional day for the Oakland A's.

    

Class of 2007- Letters of Intent

Wednesday, November 8th

   Four players from the Class of 2007 signed letters of intent on Wednesday to continue their playing careers at 4- year universities starting in the Fall of 2007.  Pitcher, Thain Simon, committed to Santa Clara University and will play for Coach O'Brien and the Broncos.  Pitcher, Jake Morton, will play for the Anteaters and Coach Dave Serrano at University of California, Irvine next spring.  Catcher/infielder, Trevor Paine, will stay local and play for CSU-Sacramento and Coach John Smith.  Outfielder, Cory Vaughn, will head south and study hitting from Tony Gwynn at San Diego State.

Jesuit Drops into a Tie with Folsom

Friday, May 4th

       The Jesuit Marauders dropped their second game in a row to the Folsom Bulldogs on Friday, placing the Marauders in a tie atop the Delta River League standings with 3 games to play.  If Jesuit and Folsom are tied at the end of regualr season play, the Bulldogs win the league by virtue of the tie-breaker (2 out of 3 in hed-to-head match-up).  The Marauders open a 3-game series versus Pleasant Grove on Monday at Jesuit.  Thain Simon will take the mound for the 4:15 start.  Jesuit will celebrate Senior Day on Friday at 4:10 to honor the 11 senior players and managers for their hard-work and dedication to Jesuit Baseball over their 4 years.

Jesuit Beats Folsom

Monday, April 30

        The Jesuit Marauders beat Folsom 10-3 on Monday to take a 2 game lead over Folsom in the DRL title race.  Folsom scored first on a double and a Thain Simon balk.  Jesuit answered in the fourth on a Kyler Bray single and Dustin Stoddard's two-run homer to center.  Folsom tied the score in the bottom of the fourth on 2 hits and a couple of Marauder errors.  Jesuit answrede with a run in the fifth on a Trevor Paine homer to right-center, bringing the score to 3-2.  Jesuit then opened the flood gates in the 6th with a 7-run inning, highlighted by a RBI singles from Jeff Saurer and Harrison Penrose.  Jesuit capped off the scoring on a Cory Vaughn double off the leftfield fence.  Senior, Thain Simon, brushed off some uncharacteristic wildness to earn the victory.  Greg Jorrin threw the 7th to finish the Bulldogs.  Jesuit hosts Folsom on Wednesday for game 2 of the 3 game series.  Jake Morton will take the mound for the 4:15 start.

Jesuit Takes 2 of 3 from Florin

      The Jesuit Marauders took 2 of 3 games from the Florin Panthers to improve to 8-1 in Delta River League play, and remain 1 game ahead of Folsom for the league title.  Jesuit faced 3 good arms in the series versus Florin, but were able to come out victorious on Monday and Wednesday.  On Friday, Jesuit committed 3 errors in losing 4-2 at home to the Panthers.  Jesuit travels to Folsom on Monday to start a 3-game series versus the Bulldogs.

Jesuit Beats Sheldon, Morton Tosses No-Hitter

Wednesday, April 18th

       The Jesuit Marauders travelled to Sheldon Wednesday, and walked away with a 5-inning, 10-0 win.  The win keeps the Marauders atop the Delta River League standings at 5-0.  Senior, Jake Morton threw a no-hitter, while walking 1 and striking out 5.  Jesuit jumped out early with 6 runs in the top of the first on 4 hit batsmen a walk, and a couple of hits and errors.  Cory Vaughn hit is 4th homer of the season in the second to make the score 7-0.  Jesuit scored agin in the third on a Harrison Penrose double, scoring Morton (doubled).  Jesuit got 2 more in the 5th on RBI doubles from Andrew Susac and Trevor Paine.  Jesuit looks to sweep the Sheldon Huskies on Friday, April 20th, game time 4:15 PM @ Jesuit High School.

Jesuit Tops Sheldon 7-0, Goes to 4-0 in League Play

Monday, April 16th

       The Jesuit Marauders cruised to a 7-0 win over the visiting Sheldon Huskies.  Senior, Thain Simon, threw 6 shutout innings, holding the Huskies to just 1 hit and striking out 9 hitters.  Greg Jorrin made his 1st appearance of the season, closing out the 7th inning on 2 strikeouts and a pop-up.  Jesuit opened the scoring in the bottom of the first on a Thain Simon sacrifice fly, scoring Kyler Bray.  In the second, Harrison Penrose had an RBI single, scoring Greg Jorrin and Trevor Paine his a sacrifice fly to score Jimmy Bosco.  Penrose followed in the 3rd inning with a 2 RBI double to left, picking up his 2nd and 3rd RBI's of the day.  Trevor Paine went "big fly" to left-center in the 6th to cap the Marauders scoring.  Jesuit travels to Sheldon on Wednesday for game 2 of the 3 game series.  Senior, Jake Morton, will take the mound for the 4:15 PM start.

Jesuit Loses to Clovis West in the 38th Fresno Easter Classic Championship

       Jesuit finished the pool play round of the 38th Annual Fresno Easter Classic 4-0, and earned a chance to play Clovis West in the tournament final.  Jesuit beat perennial Fresno powers Buchanan and Clovis, as well as CCS power Santa Cruz in route to a 4-0 record.  Jesuit lost to Clovis West 8-2 in the final on Wednesday night, snapping an 11-game win streak. Senior pitcher, Thain Simon, was one of 3 Tournament Most Outstanding Pitchers named for his win over Clovis on Tuesday, striking out 11 and allowing 1 run on 4 hits.  Jesuit will resume Delta River League play versus Sheldon on Monday, April 16th at Jesuit.

Jesuit Starts 2-0 in Fresno, Faces Clovis Today

Monday, April 2

       The Jesuit Marauders took 2 games on Monday at the 38th Annual Fresno Easter Classic.  In game 1, Jesuit beats Santa Cruz 5-0, behind a 5-hitter from Jake Morton.  Morton struck out 5 in route to a complete game victory.  Jimmy Bosco went 2x3, Cory Vaughn 2x2 2B, and Andrew Susac drove in 2 runs to pace the Marauders offensively.

      

       In game 2, Jesuit beat perennial power, Buchanan High School of Fresno, 4-2 in the night-cap.  Trevor Paine threw a complete game striking out 8, while allowing 2 runs on 7 hits.  Andrew Susac went 2x3 with an RBI, Justin Parker 2B RBI, and Trevor Paine 2x4 with a 2B.  Jesuit faces the Central Valley #2 ranked team in Clovis High School at 7 PM at Clovis High School.  Senior, Thain Simon will take the mound for the Marauders.

Jesuit Completes Sweep, Beats Monterey Trail 11-0

Friday, March 30

       The Jesuit Marauders traveled to Monterey Trail on Friday afternoon, and beat the Mustangs 11-0 to complete the season sweep.  Thain Simon threw two innings with 4 strikeouts for the win.  Junior, Dalton Egger, threw 4 scoreless innings of relief surrendering 2 hits.  Harrison Penrose had a 2 RBI double in the 3rd inning to pace the Marauders.  Kyler Bray was 2X3, Greg Jorrin 2X2, and Justin Parker had 2 RBIs.  The Marauders travel to Fresno to participate in the 38th Fresno Easter Classic next week.

Jesuit Beats Marin Catholic, Paine Tosses a Perfect Game

Saturday, March 24

       The Jesuit Marauders traveled to Marin Catholic on Saturday to take on the Wildcats in a non-league contest.  Jesuit improved to 4-3 with a 5-0 win over the Wildcats.  Senior, Trevor Paine, tossed a perfect game for the victory.  Paine retired all 21 hitters in order, tossing 70 total pitches (56 strikes), while striking out 4 Wildcatt hitters. Jesuit opens Delta River League play against Monterey Trail on Monday, March 26th.  1st pitch is scheduled for 3:45 PM.

Jesuit Wins Holy Series, Beats Christian Brothers 10-1

Saturday, March 17th

       The Marauders jumped out early with 3 runs in the bottom of the first inning with an RBI double from Kyler Bray and a 2-run homer by Cory Vaughn. Jesuit scored 2 more runs in the 3rd on an RBI double by Cory Vaughn.  Jesuit scored 3 more runs in the 4th started by a Jimmy Bosco triple and capped-off by Vaughn's second homer of the day over the leftfield foul pole.  Cory Vaughn finished the day 3x4 with 2 HR, 2B and 5 RBI, Jimmy Bosco was 4x4 with a 2B and 3B.  Senior, Thain Simon, threw 6 solid innings to earn his first win of the season, striking out 9 and allowing just 4 hits.  Junior, Dalton Egger, threw a scoreless 7th inning to finish off the Falcons and bring Jesuit back to .500.  Jesuit travels to Kentfield to take on Marin Catholic next Saturday, March 24th @ 1 PM.

Jesuit Beats Del Campo 21-4

Thursday, March 15

      The Jesuit Marauders won their second game of the year, beating the Del Campo Cougars 21-4 on Thursday at Del Campo.  Jesuit capitalized on 16 Del Campo walks and 6 errors to pound the Cougars, and earn their second victory of the season.  Jesuit scored 5 runs in the top of the first on a lead-off double by Harrison Penrose and sacrifice fly by Cory Vaughn.  Michael McGann provided the big blast by tripling off the left-center wall, bringing in 3 Marauders.  Del Campo scored 3 runs in the 3rd on a couple of hits and 2 Justin Parker walks, but the Marauders answered in the top of the 4th scoring 8 runs.  Thain Simon hit a grand slam to left to pace the Marauders.  Justin Parker earned his first win of the season, throwing 4 innings, while allowing 4 earned runs on 6 hits.  Dalton Egger threw 1 inning of scoreless relief to close out the Cougars in a game shortened to 5 innings.  Jesuit concludes Gary Dreher Tournament play on Saturday, March 17th, when they take on the Christian Brothers Falcons.  The start time was moved up one hour to accommodate the NorCal Basketball Finals in Stockton.  Thain Simon will start for the Marauders.

Jesuit Snaps 3 Game Skid, Beats Oak Ridge 6-3

Tuesday, March 13

      The Jesuit Marauders snapped their 3 game losing streak, beating the Oak Ridge Trojans 6-3 on Tuesday afternoon in El Dorado Hills.  Jesuit opened the scoring in the second inning on back-to-back RBI singles by Harrison Penrose and Jake Morton.  The Trojans answered with 3 runs in the 3rd inning on a 2 RBI double a a Marauder throwing error.  Jesuit had a chance to score in the 5th, but left the bases loaded to keep the score at 3-2.  Jesuit erupted for 4 runs in the top of the 7th on a 2 RBI single from Trevor Paine and a Cory Vaughn RBI single to put the Marauders ahead for good.  Jake Morton started, and went 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits.  Dustin Stoddard threw a scoreless 6th inning for the win, and Trevor Paine struck out the side in the 7th to earn the save.  The Marauders travel to Del Campo on Thursday to take on the Cougars, first pitch is scheduled for 3:30 PM.

Jesuit Drops Another Close One, Loses to Rocklin 3-2

Friday, March 9

      The Jesuit Marauders traveled to Rocklin High School on Friday to take on the Thunder.  The game was a pitcher's dual for 4 innings as Jesuit starter, Thain Simon, and Rocklin starter, Mark Cole,  matched zeros and surrendered 3 hits between them.  In the top of the 5th, Jimmy Bosco tripled home 2 Marauders as they took a 2-0 lead.  Unfortunately, Rocklin tied the score in the bottom of the inning on 2 hits, a walk, hit batsmen, and some well-executed situational hitting.  Rocklin scored once more in the bottom of the sixth, when Jake Morton walked in the winning run with 2 outs.  Jesuit travels to Oak Ridge High School on Tuesday, March 13th to meet the Trojans at 3:30 PM. 

Jesuit Falls to 0-2, Loses to St. Mary's 5-3

Wednesday, March 7th

      The Jesuit Marauders fell to 0-2 on the season with a 5-3 loss to St. Mary's of Stockton.  Jesuit opened a 3-1 lead after 1 inning on an Andrew Susac 2-out single to Right, driving in Kyler Bray and Trevor Paine.  Harrison Penrose later walked with the bases loaded, bringing in Max Anderson.  However, This was the only offense the Marauders could muster against 4 Ram pitchers. Trevor Paine threw 5 innings, allowing 8 hits and 3 earned runs, while striking out 3.  Junior, Dalton Egger, came on relief and allowed 2 hits and 2 unearned runs in taking the loss.  The Marauders continue Gary Dreher Tournament action against the Rocklin Thunder on Friday, March 9th @ Rocklin High School.  Senior, Thain Simon, will start for the Marauders with the first pitch scheduled for 3:30 PM.

Jesuit Drops Season Opener to Mills Mustangs

Saturday, March 3

     The Jesuit Marauders traveled to Millbrae, CA to take on the Mills High School Mustangs on Saturday afternoon.  Mills opened with a 4-run first inning, capitalizing on 3 hits, 2 walks and a hit batsmen.  The Marauders answered with 2 runs in the top of the second on an Andrew Susac single and a sacrifice fly from Kyler Bray.  The Marauders got one more run in the third with an RBI from Max Anderson, scoring Trevor Paine after he doubled to centerfield.  However, the Mustangs broke the game open with a two out double to left, by third basemen, Hidalgo, scoring 2 Mustangs and capping off a 3 run inning.  The Mustangs got 2 more runs in the 5th inning to put the game out of reach, and send the Marauders home to Sacramento with their first loss of the season.  Junior, Justin Parker, started the game going 1 inning, and surrendering 2 earned runs in taking the loss.  Dalton Egger threw 2 2/3innings, allowing 4 hits and striking out 4.  The Marauders will host the St. Mary's Rams of Stockton on Wednesday, March 7th in their home-opener.  First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 PM.
