MARAUDERBALLNEWS2008 ArchivesMarauders Split in Santa Clara The Marauders opened the Spring 2008 campaign on the road at Santa Clara University. Jesuit beat Archbishop Mitty of San Jose 8-3 on Friday night. Andrew Susac started off the scoring with a solo homer in the first inning. Dan Hayes was 2x4 with a 2 RBI double and an RBI triple in the 4th inning. Jimmy Bosco had 3 hits including a double and triple. Justin Parker threw 4 innings for the win. Junior, Alex Plog, threw 3 innings quality innings of relief for the save. On Saturday, Jesuit took on Santa Cruz High School in the final game of the weekend series. Jesuit stormed to a 41 lead after the first inning. Unfortunately, the Marauders couldn't muster anything else offensively all day. Santa Cruz rallied to score 4 runs in the bottom of the seventh to beat the Marauders 5-4. Brock Simon had a quality start, giving up 5 hits and 3 runs in 6 innings of work. Jesuit travels to Stockton, CA on Thursday to meet Tokay High School at Billy Hebert Field. Fresno Easter Classic Schedule Announced The Jesuit Marauders will travel to Fresno, CA to participate in the 39th Annual Fresno Easter Classic sponsored by Fresno High School. Jesuit will open on Monday, March 17 vs. Clovis West High School at 7 PM at Clovis West. This game is a re-match of last years Fresno Easter Classic final, which Clovis West won 7-2. On Tuesday, March 18th, Jesuit will face West High school of Bakersfield at 1 PM, and Clovis East at 4 PM. Both of these games will be played at Clovis High school. The Marauders close out preliminary play against Madera High School on Wednesday, March 19th at Bullard High School at 1 PM. The Championship Game is scheduled for Wednesday, March 19 at 7:30 PM at Clovis West High School. The Marauders will stay at the Piccadilly Inn- University for the duration of the trip. Players' rooms have been booked for Sunday, March, 16th through Thursday, March 20. Parents can book rooms by contacting the Piccadilly Inn-University and asking for the Jesuit Friends & Family block. Detailed information is located on the hotel info. link to the left. Location & Time Change for Saturday's Game The game scheduled for Saturday, March 8th has been moved to Stephen Schott Stadium on the Santa Clara University campus. The Marauders will take on Santa Cruz High School with the 1st pitch scheduled for 1 PM. The game was originally scheduled for Noon at Archbishop Mitty High School. Jesuit to Open the Season on the Road The Jesuit Marauders will travel to Santa Clara, CA this weekend to open the 2008 season. The Marauders will take on Archbishop Mitty of San Jose on Friday, March 7th at 4:30. This game is scheduled to be played at Santa Clara University and their new state-of-the-art Stephen Schott Stadium. On Saturday, Jesuit will square-off against Santa Cruz High School at noon. Both games should be good pre-season tests against two quality programs from the Central Coast Section. Senior, Justin Parker, will take the mound on Friday for the 4:30 start against the Monarchs. Junior, Brock Simon, will start the Saturday game vs. Santa Cruz High School. 4 Players Commit to College This was a busy off-season for the Jesuit Marauders Baseball program. Four players have committed to play baseball at the next level. Senior, Justin Parker, has signed a letter of intent to play for the Loyola Marymount Lions in 2009. In addition, 3 juniors have given early verbal commitments to Pacific-10 Conference schools. Outfielder, Jimmy Bosco, has committed to Dave Esquer and the California Golden Bears for the spring 2010 season. Andrew Susac (C) and Dan Hayes (INF) gave a verbal commitment to the reigning National Champion, Oregon State Beavers. |
